Also known as a sea- brief, sea-letter, and sea-pass, a special document issued to the merchant vessels of a neutral country by their government, describing the vessel and her cargo, and asserting the right to pass upon the seas without interference from belligerent states. Maritime passports are no longer issued by U.S. authorities.
