Informal Sector (in the Human Development Area)

In this context, Informal Sector means:

the informal sector, as defined by the International Expert Group on Informal Sector Statistics (the Delhi Group) includes private unincorporated enterprises (excluding quasi-corporations), which produce at least some of their goods and services for sale or barter, have less than five paid employees, are not registered, and are engaged in nonagricultural activities (including professional or technical activities). Paid domestic employees are excluded from this category.

refers to the ratio of total employment in the informal sector to total employment in all nonagricultural sectors.
