Quick Count in Election Law
Technique that aims to obtain a speedy and precise estimate of results. This technical tool is a method used by external agents other than polling station workers to keep note of the counting of the ballots simultaneously, as polling station officers count the ballots in a public session. Normally, quick counters take only valid ballots into consideration, so as to make the operation move swiftly at the final counting, before making a quick transmission to whichever entity is responsible for the quick counting: political party, media outlet, government, etc. Most often, a statistical sample of polling stations is taken as the basis for the quick count operation.
