Consular Invoice in International Trade
Meaning of Consular Invoice, according to the Dictionary of International Trade (Global Negotiator): An invoice covering a shipment of goods certified by the consul of the country for which the merchandise is destined. The invoice is used by customs officials of the country to verify the value, quantity, and nature of the merchandise imported to determine the import duty. In addition, the export price may be examined in the light of the current market price in the exporter’s country to ensure that dumping is not taking place. See also commercial invoice.
