Composite Index (in the Human Development Area)

In this context, Composite Index means: _ unit-less number that combines various statistical indicators to convey a larger picture. A composite index is formed when individual indicators are compiled into a single index on the basis of some underlying model. A composite index can measure a multidimensional concept that cannot be captured by a single indicator alone—such as poverty, competitiveness, sustainability, market integration, etc.
