Summary of Barge-Aboard-Cat Amaran

A method for the transport of ocean cargo by use of a small barge, which is filled at a waterfront facility and towed to a twin-hulled (catamaran) mother ship for transport abroad. The catamaran may also carry larger LASH (LIGHTER ABOARD ship, q.v.) barges between the twin hulls. This service was inaugurated in Denmark in 1973, for use between Scandinavian destinations.
