Tropical Products
Tropical Products and the GATT Policy Negotiations
In relation to the GATT Policy Negotiations, Christopher Mark (1993) provided the following explanation and/or definition of Tropical Products: Agricultural and other products of export interest to countries in tropical regions of Latin America, Africa, Asia, and Oceania. Examples include coffee, tea, cocoa, bananas, spices, rubber, and tropical timber. Liberalizing trade in these products is a high priority for many developing countries, and was the subject of both a Tokyo Round and Uruguay Round negotiating group.
