The following is a basic concept of Paradigmatic Relationship in relation to information retrieval. In addition to this, Paradigmatic Relationship may be applied to legal texts, including case law, legislation and scholarly works. Also called semantic relationship. This is a relationships that always exists based on the definitions of terms and permanent relationships among concepts, such as the taxonomic relationships among dogs, canines, mammals, vertebrates, and animals. Contrast to syntagmatic relationship.
