Net Ton

Summary of Net Ton

A unit of measurement in determining the cargo-carrying capacity of a vessel. It is computed in the same manner as the Gross Ton (read this and related legal terms for further details) but includes only revenue-producing (i.e., cargo storage) capacity, less engine and fuel space, crew quarters, et cetera.
