Summary of Customary Quick Despatch

A provision in a vessel charter agreement that the ship will be loaded or unloaded with all reasonable speed. By including a customary quick despatch (or CQD) clause in the contract, the parties need not specify LAYTIME (read this and related legal terms for further details) permitted, and neither demurrage nor Despatch Money will be paid, except in the case of inordinate delays.
