In the context of trade organizations, Christopher Mark (1993) provided the following definition of Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS): A nonprofit research organization founded in 1962 to conduct analyses of international issues on an interdisciplinary basis. CSIS was originally affiliated with Georgetown University and is based in Washington, DC.
