Beggar-My-Neighbor Tactics

Beggar-My-Neighbor Tactics

Summary of Beggar-My-Neighbor Tactics

The policy of expanding one nation's exports at the expense of other countries. Common vehicles for implementing such policies include currency depreciations designed to make export prices more attractive to foreigners, and significant tariff increases. Usually such practices are of limited value as they generally induce retaliation on the part of nations whose trade has been injured. See EXPORT UNEMPLOYMENT.
