Compound Tariff

Compound Tariff and the GATT Policy Negotiations

In relation to the GATT Policy Negotiations, Christopher Mark (1993) provided the following explanation and/or definition of Compound Tariff: A combination of a specific duty and an ad valorem tariff on the same imported item (e.g., $100 per unit plus 5 percent of the assessed value). Sometimes called a “mixed tariff.”
