Protection and the GATT Policy Negotiations
In relation to the GATT Policy Negotiations, Christopher Mark (1993) provided the following explanation and/or definition of Protection: Government measures –including tariffs and non-tariff barriers –that raise the cost of imported goods or otherwise restrict their entry, and thus strengthen the competitive position of domestic producers vis-a-vis foreign producers.
