West African Economic and Monetary Union or Union Economique et Monetaire Ouest africaine (UEMOA) in relation with International Trade
In the context of trade organizations, Christopher Mark (1993) provided the following definition of West African Economic and Monetary Union or Union Economique et Monetaire Ouest africaine (UEMOA): A prospective customs union including Benin, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, and Senegal. It was approved by heads of state at the July 1992 summit of the West African Monetary Union; details of the treaty are under negotiation. Objectives include establishment of a customs union, and harmonization of tax policies and of legal and regulatory frameworks.
