Treaties Office and the Treaties of the European Union

Description of Treaties Office provided by the European Union Commission: The Treaties Office of DG External Relations of the European Commission, has two main roles: to advice on practice and procedural matters relating to the different stages of negotiation of treaties to which the European Community is a party and to provide information on those treaties. These Treaties, with a very few exceptions, have been published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJ). Both, bilateral agreements entered by the EC with individual Third countries and multilateral agreements to which the European Community is a party, are covered by this Database. “Treaty” should not be confused with the founding treaties of the European Community and/or the European Union.

More about Treaties Office and the Treaties of the European Union

The Treaties Office does not act as depositary of the treaties concluded by the European Community. The Treaties Office is responsible for developing and maintaining an electronic database and information system to facilitate access to treaty information: the Treaties Office Database. This database is regularly updated.
