Transition and the GATT Policy Negotiations

In relation to the GATT Policy Negotiations, Christopher Mark (1993) provided the following explanation and/or definition of Transition: A term referring to the period of time during which provisions of a trade agreement will be implemented (including, in some cases, phasing out existing trade restrictions) by signatories Transit Zone. A port of entry in a coastal country that is established as a storage and distribution center for a neighboring country lacking adequate port facilities or access to, the sea. Goods in transit to and from the neighboring country are exempt from customs duties, import controls, and many of the entry and exit formalities of the host country. A transit zone is a more limited type of facility thana free trade zone.
