U.S.-colombia Trade Promotion Agreement in 2013

United States views on international law [1] in relation to U.s.-colombia Trade Promotion Agreement: (1) Environmental Cooperation Agreement

On April 19, 2013, the United States and Colombia signed the U.S.-Colombia Environmental Cooperation Agreement (“ECA”). The ECA complements the Environment Chapter of the U.S.-Colombia Trade Promotion Agreement (“TPA”) which was signed into law in the United States in 2011 and entered into force in 2012. See this world legal encyclopedia (in relation to issues that took place in the year 2011) at 392-93 and this world legal encyclopedia (in relation to issues that took place in the year 2012) at 392-93. As explained in a State Department media note, available at (Secretary of State website)

…the ECA will strengthen the ties between the United States and Colombia by creating new opportunities to work together to protect the environment and conserve natural resources. The ECA establishes a framework for environmental cooperation and will help ensure that trade and environmental policies are mutually supportive.
