US Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA)

The US Toxic Substances Control Act
(TSCA) regulates chemical substances to
which the public or environment may
become exposed. TSCA authorizes the
EPA to prohibit the manufacture,
processing, or distribution of a
substance, prohibit certain uses of a
substance, or regulate the disposal of
certain substances. (15 U.S.C. §§ 2601-
2671.) Offenses include failing to place
warning labels on products containing
certain hazardous substances or
mixtures, improper storage or disposal of
certain hazardous substances, and failing
to maintain proper records regarding the
removal, storage, or disposal of certain
hazardous substances. (15 U.S.C. §§
2614-2615.)
