State Planning Committee
Summary of State Planning Committee
Also known as Gosplan, as important agency of the Soviet government responsible for planning economic output. In response to objectives established by the Politburo, the SPC assesses the economic resources of the nation and establishes targets for the quantitative output of specified commodities. The output goals are articulated to the various state production enterprises, which are obliged to prepare a plan for meeting their output quota. These plans are supplied to Gosplan to coordinate the various elements of the production process and to ensure compliance with the stated objectives.
