Security Council Actions in 2013

United States views on international law [1] in relation to Security Council Actions: On December 17, 2013, the Security Council adopted resolution 2129, extending the mandate of the Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (“CTED”) until December 31, 2017, under the guidance of the Counter-Terrorism Committee (“CTC”). U.N. Doc. S/RES/2129. The CTC was established pursuant to resolution 1373 (2001) in the wake of the September 11 attacks. CTED was established pursuant to resolution 1535 (2004) to advise the CTC and facilitate technical assistance for national efforts to implement resolution 1371.
