Syntagmatic Relationships in Legal Information Retrieval
The following is a basic concept of Syntagmatic Relationships in relation to information retrieval. In addition to this, Syntagmatic Relationships may be applied to legal texts, including case law, legislation and scholarly works. Syntagmatic relationships are non-permanent relationships that exist in life situations and in messages and texts that describe them, such as a relationship between dogs and breeding or between cats and care or feeding in the United States or Brazil. These are the kinds of relationships that index headings should express through the use of syntax. Contrast with permanent paradigmatic relationships.
