Price Bands and the GATT Policy Negotiations

In relation to the GATT Policy Negotiations, Christopher Mark (1993) provided the following explanation and/or definition of Price Bands: A form of variable levy linked to a system of domestic price controls. Countries such as Chile and Colombia allege that their price-band systems are a more transparent alternative to high import duties and quotas for stabilizing prices and protecting domestic producers.
