The first part develops the evolution of the underlying assumptions of the policy sciences, while the second sets out an analytic framework derived from the policy sciences as a means of viewing policy decisions. Finally, a brief hypothetical example of how the policy sciences approach would be utilized in the “real world” is presented, based on a major highway and light rail construction project in Denver, Colorado.
