In this context, Health-adjusted Life Expectancy (hale) means:

an indicator that firstly was introduced by WHO as average number of years that a person can expect to live in “full health” by taking into account years lived in less than full health due to diseases and/or injury.

Life Expectancy Index (in the Human Development Area)

In this context, Life Expectancy Index means:

one of the three indices on which the human development index is built. For details on how the index is calculated.
