Distinction between Law Dictionaries and Judicial Dictionaries

Daniel Greenberg is editor of Stroud’s Judicial Dictionary and general editor of Jowitt’s Dictionary of English Law. Greenberg makes a distinction between legal dictionaries (such as, for example, Jowitt’s or Black’s Law Dictionary) and judicial dictionaries as exemplified by Stroud’s. The former defines terms that are relevant to the law, the latter terms that are used in the law.
