The German Federal Court of Justice referred to the ECJ a set of questions concerning the limits on international internet jurisdiction as well as the interpretation of the country of origin principle in the context of cross-border libel proceedings within the Internal Market. The requested preliminary ruling will give the ECJ an opportunity to provide urgently needed guidance with regard to the extent website operators have to undergo the difficulties and costs of defending themselves in foreign jurisdictions.
