Literature Review on Fiscal Transparency

In the Encyclopedia of Public Administration and Public Policy, [1] A. Premchand offers the following summary about the topic of Fiscal Transparency: The content of fiscal transparency has evolved over years. The cumulative developments in this area are expected to provide an overview on the wisdom, faithfulness, and economy in the use of resources, in the provision of services, and in securing macroeconomic stability. Despite the efforts of international financial institutions to strengthen fiscal transparency, about one-third of the world's population does not have full access to information on the fiscal operations of public bodies. More efforts are indicated to expand the scope of fiscal information and to establish bodies of oversight. What remains to be achieved is significant and urgent.
