Export Unemployment

Export Unemployment

Summary of Export Unemployment

A conscious program to relieve domestic unemployment or economic stagnation through the stimulation of export sales. The term is used generally in relation to improper export promotion vehicles such as dumping (read this and related legal terms for further details) or the extensive use of export subsidies. In those cases where a nation feels that it has been subject to unemployment exporting schemes, the offended nation may undertake retaliatory measures, to include the imposition of antidumping or countervailing duties, quotas, or other trade- restraining devices.
