Summary of Euronationalism

A geopolitical viewpoint that holds that the interests of Europeans are substantially interrelated and transcend the national boundaries that separate Europeans into different states. This viewpoint emerged strongly after World War II and is the product of a greater awareness of pan-European goals, particularly in response to Soviet aggression in Eastern Europe and what is often felt to be excessive influence over European affairs by the United States.
