Summary of Emerging Nation

A nation that is not sufficiently industrialized to provide for its own needs in manufactured goods, and that is dependent upon agriculture and/or commodity production as the principal source of foreign exchange to buy such goods. The term is often used interchangeably with less developed country and is used particularly for those nations having a recent history of colonial domination.
