Declaration of Global Principles For Non-partisan Election Observation and Monitoring by Citizen Organisations in Election Law

This declaration provides an important set of values and rules for accountability of non-partisan electoral monitoring organisations, in a similar way to those established for international observation. More importantly, it provides a basis of understanding upon which non-partisan organisations can engage with electoral stakeholders and international actors, paving the way for more effective and engaging forms of cooperation between international and domestic observers. (See: Declaration of principles for international election observation).

Declaration of Principles For International Election Observation in Election Law

The Declaration of Principles was officially endorsed in 2005 at the United Nations by several international and regional organisations involved in electoral observation. This document now guides the practice and methodologies of all major international election observation missions.
