Eco-labeling and the GATT Policy Negotiations

In relation to the GATT Policy Negotiations, Christopher Mark (1993) provided the following explanation and/or definition of Eco-labeling: Government or privately-sponsored labels or markings (also known as eco-seals or green seals) signifying that products or packaging are “environment- friendly,” allowing consumers to discriminate among products in terms of their environmental impact Labels signifying “dolphin safe” tuna are an example.
