Dock

Summary of Dock

The space in the water at which a ship comes to rest. A dock is not a PIER or wharf (qq.v.), each of which has its own specific meaning. It would be appropriate, however, to say that a vessel docked at a pier. Also, used as a verb, to dock means to reduce the price of a product or commodity because of a quality deficiency.
