The U.S. Office of Development Finance

The Office of Development Finance, part of the The Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs’ International Finance and Development (EB/IFD) unit, “fosters broad, inclusive growth around the world and promotes the prosperity of the United States by developing new markets overseas, supporting export opportunities, and strengthening U.S. international economic ties. We provide support to the U.S. Export Import Bank and Trade and Development Agency in their missions to promote U.S. exports and create U.S. jobs. We contribute to U.S. government positions on policies and projects advanced at the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, African Development Bank, and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. We are the State Department’s liaison to the Millennium Challenge Corporation, a specialized U.S. Government foreign assistance agency which is governed by a Board of Directors chaired by the Secretary of State. We also engage in the formulation of overall development policy at fora such as the United Nations, G20, G-8, and Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). We often coordinate international support for reconstruction and development in areas recovering from armed conflict or natural disaster.”
