Conflict transformation in the Context of Peacemaking

Definition of Conflict transformation published by the United Nations: A process of engaging with and transforming the relationships, interest, discourses, and, if necessary, the very constitution of society that supports the continuation of violent conflict. Also refers to the deliberate interventions pursued by key actors in the conflict setting to effect peaceful change. Represents a comprehensive set of lenses for describing how conflict emerges from, evolves within and brings about changes in the personal, relational, structural and cultural dimensions, and for developing creative responses that promote peaceful change within those dimensions through non-violent mechanisms.
