Collective Reserve Unit
Summary of Collective Reserve Unit
An artificial currency unit proposed in 1965 by Valéry Giscard d’Estaing of France. The cru, as it was known, was to have been linked to gold to create international reserves. The GROUP OF ten (read this and related legal terms for further details) was to have allocated the reserves so created. The movement for creation of gold-linked collective reserve units was thwarted by the issuance of SPECIAL DRAWING RIGHTS (read this and related legal terms for further details) by the International Monetary Fund (read this and related legal terms for further details).
