Central Boycott Office

Summary of Central Boycott Office

An agency of the Arab League established in 1951 to orchestrate the ARAB BOYCOTT (read this and related legal terms for further details) of Israeli industry. The CBO has its headquarters in Damascus, Syria, with offices throughout the Arab world, and maintains a blacklist of firms engaged in economic transactions with Israel. By 1984, more than 150,000 firms had been blacklisted, thereby effectively denying them access to the markets of the Arab world.
