Literature Review on Budgetary Analysis and Economics

In the Encyclopedia of Public Administration and Public Policy, [1] John R. Bartle offers the following summary about the topic of Budgetary Analysis and Economics: Economic analysis offers a potentially useful framework for making budgetary decisions in government. This is true of both broad and specific budgeting decisions, as well as which level of government should be responsible for different programs. Cost–benefit analysis is also a very useful technique, which can improve the efficiency of government programs. While economics is but one perspective relevant to public budgeting, it is one that is vital to understand.
