Basing Point System

Basing Point System

Summary of Basing Point System

A system wherein freight is charged from a nominal shipping point (i.e., the basing point), irrespective of the point from which the goods are shipped. For example, if the basing point is New York, a customer in Chicago will be charged freight from New York, even if the goods are actually shipped from Minneapolis.
