Attorney In Fact

Summary of Attorney In Fact

Any person who is empowered by another to act in his place. It is not necessary for the person acting as “attorney” to be a lawyer. In most cases, the power to act as attorney is conveyed by the principal in writing. The power of attorney so granted may be limited to the performance of a single transaction, or may be a general power of attorney, thereby permitting the attorney to act for the principal in virtually all matters.
