Armed Conflict: Restoration of Peace and Security in Somalia in 2013

United States views on international law [1] in relation to Armed Conflict: Restoration of Peace and Security in Somalia: See Chapter 17.B.7 for a discussion of UN Security Council resolution 2093, adopted on March 6, 2013, which partially lifted the arms embargo on the government of Somalia. The Security Council also adopted resolution 2111 on Somalia on July 24, 2013, renewing the mandate of the Somalia and Eritrea Monitoring Group which monitors sanctions imposed on Somalia. U.N. Doc. S/RES/2111. Resolution 2111 also further modifies the arms embargo on Somalia with regard to certain equipment for Somalia's security forces and supplies to UNISOM and its partners as well as UN and humanitarian groups.
