Agreement on Agriculture and the Treaties of the European Union

Description of Agreement on Agriculture provided by the European Union Commission: The Uruguay Round Agreement on Agriculture (URAA) concluded in 1994 brought agricultural trade more fully under international trade rules and obligations. The Agreement provided for the conversion of non-tariff measures into ordinary customs duties, the establishment of tariff rate quotas (TRQs), reductions in export subsidies and trade-distorting domestic support, while having regard to non-trade concerns.
