ACP (African, Caribbean, and Pacific) Countries in relation with International Trade
In the context of trade organizations, Christopher Mark (1993) provided the following definition of ACP (African, Caribbean, and Pacific) Countries: A group of developing countries with preferential trade and financial ties to the European Community; see entry under same heading in Section I. Includes Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Benin, Botswana, Burkina, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Congo, Cote d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Fiji, Gabon, The Gambia, Ghana, Grenada, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Kenya, Kiribati, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, Rwanda, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, Somalia, Sudan, Suriname, Swaziland, Tanzania, Togo, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu, Western Samoa, Zaire, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Definition of Acp Countries in International Trade
The following is a concept of Acp Countries in the context of international trade law, from the Dictionary of International Trade (Global Negotiator): African, Caribbean and Pacific countries is a group of countries with preferential trading relations with the EU under the former Lome Treaty now called the Cotonou Agreement. This agreement is aimed at the reduction and eventual eradication of poverty while contributing to sustainable development to permit the gradual integration of ACP countries into the world economy.
ACP (African, Caribbean, and Pacific) Countries and the GATT Policy Negotiations
In relation to the GATT Policy Negotiations, Christopher Mark (1993) provided the following explanation and/or definition of ACP (African, Caribbean, and Pacific) Countries: Refers to 69 countries –most of them former colonies of member states of the European Community (Sec. III) –receiving preferential tariff treatment as well as EC financial and technical assistance under the Lome Convention. See also entry under same heading in Section III.
