According to “Introduction to Research in International Law”(see Further Reading) this encyclopedic reference has “two predominant themes: peace research and peace activism. It is organized into four volumes. Volumes one and two contain articles arranged alphabetically by title.

A comprehensive system of cross-referencing is used so that users may easily find articles in related areas of interest. Volume three comprises three separate sections in which material is organized chronologically. These sections are treaties of the twentieth century, a chronology of the peace movement, and articles on Nobel Peace Prize Laureates. Volume four comprises basic reference data organized thematically. It is divided into six sections: peace institutions and organizations in a directory format; a bibliography comprising of an alphabetical listing of references in the literature of peace research; a list of journals published in the fields
of peace research, peace activism, and international relations; a list of contributors to the encyclopedia; and name and subject indexes to all four volumes.”
