Java Tobacco Survey Clause

Summary of Java Tobacco Survey Clause

A condition in marine insurance contracts that obliges exporters of bulk tobacco from Java, Sumatra, and certain other areas in Southeast Asia to have the goods surveyed in advance of shipment. Inability to provide a report from an independent surveyor serves as a barrier to claims of damage or deterioration in transit. This clause is not in common use.
