Gold Flow

Summary of Gold Flow

Also known as gold movements, the pattern by which monetary gold enters and leaves a country. Theoretically, an inflow of gold should expand the national monetary supply; conversely, an export of gold should contract the money supply, thus eliminating imbalances in international payments over time. As a practical matter, most nations no longer equate the supply of money in circulation to gold reserves.
