Export Diversification

Export Diversification

Summary of Export Diversification

The movement of a nation away from the export of a single or limited number of products as the principal source of foreign exchange earnings. Export diversification programs are usually the priority objectives of small or underdeveloped nations, particularly those exporting primary products, which are subject to a much higher degree of market fluctuation than are manufactured goods. The lack of sufficient export diversification may serve as an impediment to securing borrowing facilities abroad.
